RESEARCH GETS UNDERWAY

Save The Drip and Hands on Rock

MDEG’s survey/research project is underway. Getting the response of visitors (particularly non-locals) to Hands on Rock and The Drip will hopefully give us some strong ammunition to prevent transmission lines in these areas, and put pressure on DPIE regarding commitments to protect The Drip.

MDEG has written to all relevant bodies objecting strongly to an additional Transgrid transmission line from Wollar to Ulan, then north along Ulan Road.

MDEG has written all relevant bodies requesting two urgent actions:
1.            that Moolarben Coal Mine EL 6288 on the northern side of the Goulburn River be cancelled forthwith;
2.            the Independent Advisory Panel for Underground Mining chaired by Emeritus Professor Jim Galvin be convened to provide an independent review on mining impacts from Moolarben Coal Operations UG4 on The Drip & Goulburn River, before additional mining takes place.
