Wollar is a village in the Mid-Western regional council area that is being swallowed by the mining activity of the adjacent Wilpinjong mine. This large open cut mine has been operating for 10 years and has bought up over 90% of private property to mitigate noise and dust pollution. The mine has been approved to expand to within 1.5km of the Wollar Village.

The remaining people of Wollar district have been denied the right to appeal this decision in the NSW Land and Environment Court. They are now socially and economically disadvantaged through loss of population and local services.
