MDEG supports Healthy Rivers Dubbo and its associated groups in their opposition to this proposed dam.
This is why the dam should not proceed:
- less water for the vulnerable Ramsar-listed Macquarie Marshes which is downstream
- NSW Govt in its own report states that there will be likely significant impact on migratory birds: loss or changes to habitat including changing flowing river habitats into pool habitat; changes to water flow timing; and changes to groundwater dependent ecosystems.
- NSW Govt in its own report states ‘This proposed action is expected to have a significant impact on the critically endangered Silver Perch, endangered Trout Cod, and vulnerable Murray Cod
